Mild steel contains roughly 0.05% to 0.25% carbon content. The low carbon content of mild steel offers a unique combination of ductility, malleability, and weldability, allowing it to be used within construction, automotive, manufacturing, and many other industries that require ease of use and affordability for a range of applications. Mild steel can be identified by its AISI/SAE classification codes that begin with 10 and in a number less than 20.
